6 Things to Keep in Mind during National Clean Energy Week
Clean energy is more than worthy of a week’s worth of recognition, and we’re excited to see it getting its due. Starting September 25th, Third Way will be celebrating the huge economic and environmental value of technologies like wind, nuclear, solar, carbon capture, and energy storage during the first-ever National Clean Energy Week. But this is more than just a feel-good moment. It’s a chance for an unusually wide variety of advocates to band together and remind the nation’s policymakers of all that low-carbon technologies bring to the table, and why Washington should double-down as a partner with industry to reap even greater rewards for the U.S.
We’ve pulled together a few short explainers, videos, and memos that make a quick and easy case for supporting clean energy. Below are 6 things to keep in mind during (and after) National Clean Energy Week:
1. Federal investments in energy innovation pay off big time. It makes zero sense for America to walk away from this kind of opportunity.
2. The private sector will not pick up the slack if DOE’s innovation budget gets cut.
3. The climate clock is ticking. We need more clean energy, ASAP.
4. When it comes to cutting emissions, renewables are necessary. But they probably won’t be enough.
5. DOE does a lot with what it’s got. Think what it could do with more.
6. U.S. industry will keep delivering game-changing clean energy technologies, as long as Washington provides the right support at the right time.
