In America, both political parties have a growing isolationist wing. But as the competition between the US and China intensifies, one advantage we have is true allies and trust and partnerships on our borders. There are no disputes over territory; there are no armies facing each other. By contrast, China and its neighbors stare warily and sometimes with hostility across an often-armed border.
