Presentation Deck: What Do Republican Voters Want on Higher Education?

There’s no question that the conventional narrative would lead you to believe that Republican voters dislike higher education and no longer see the value of a degree. Yet that’s not the case—in fact, Republican voters haven’t abandoned higher education and broadly support policies that increase accountability, make college more affordable, and ensure a return on investment for students and taxpayers.
As Congress prepares to make changes across a wide range of key issue areas in a Republican trifecta, this analysis shows that Republican voters still do value higher education, prefer less-invasive reforms, and don’t fully support student loans being privatized or federal lending eliminated.
This presentation deck highlights findings from a national poll of 500 Republican voters conducted with GS Strategy Group from February 4-7, 2025. The margin of error is +/- 4.38%.
