Why We Need To Save Our Nuclear Power Plants

President Joe Biden has set a goal of achieving a net-zero emissions power sector by 2035 and net-zero emissions economy-wide by 2050. In order to achieve that goal, we should be doing everything possible to expand our clean energy capacity–while maintaining our existing clean energy infrastructure. That’s why it’s crucial to keep our existing nuclear plants, which currently generate a majority of our clean electricity, online. Congress can act now to help protect our existing nuclear plants and ensure they remain in the mix as we build toward our net-zero future.
