International Terrorist Groups
Terrorism is a tactic utilized by many organizations to achieve their political goals. The U.S. Department of State identifies over 50 groups as foreign terrorist organizations. However, these non-state actors—as opposed to state sponsors of terrorism—are varied in their missions, interests, and capacity for violence.
In this chart, we have highlighted six major organizations that have attacked U.S. interests and citizens, in order to provide context to the challenges that America faces today from international terror groups
