This study estimates the savings to Medicare, Medicaid, private health insurance (PHI) and out-of-pocket (OOP) based on expanding coverage for telehealth services.
In summary, projected savings to Medicare total $1.8 billion over the 10-year period (2017-2026) and projected savings to Medicaid, PHI and OOP total $0.9 billion, $3.4 billion, and $1.3 billion respectively.
