Growing up just north of San Francisco, California, Shaelyn developed a deep love for the outdoors from a young age. Riding horses and hiking in state and local parks of Northern California instilled a profound appreciation for the natural world and its preservation. Shaelyn pursued higher education at UC Davis, where she majored in environmental policy analysis and planning. Alongside her major, she minored in economics, demonstrating a well-rounded approach to addressing environmental challenges. This experience sparked a passion for practical approaches to complex environmental issues, as well as a commitment to evidence-based solutions. Two days after graduating, she flew to Washington, DC to complete an internship, leading to a permanent position at a prominent consulting company. In this role she gained valuable experience in grant management and implementation. Shaelyn is currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy at American University. She is thrilled to embark on the next chapter of their career by joining Third Way as the Philanthropy Advisor for the Climate and Energy Program. Outside of work, Shaelyn can be found riding her horse, going for hikes in Shenandoah, and exploring DC with friends.
