From his time living on a farm to his exploits in playing recreational hockey and baseball, Steven Dieterle possesses many traits one might not typically assign to a career accounting guru. However, while he’d sometimes rather by tying fly fishing flies than tying out general ledger accounts, Steve is passionate about managing the finances of Third Way. It’s his way of contributing to a mission that he feels strongly about.

Steve handles the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for the entire organization, including the budgeting and grant reporting functions. He is also responsible for the accounting and management for the Organization’s investment portfolio and managing the annual audit and tax return processes.

A Certified Public Accountant, Steve has had key roles both in industry and public accounting throughout his 20-year career. Notably, he acted as the lead-auditor for several audit teams servicing the healthcare, real estate, and financial services industries. Steve also had the opportunity to manage a team producing the quarterly financial statements for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and once wrote a daily newsletter covering the stock market.

Steve’s varied professional and personal experiences have helped him develop the skills needed to effectively manage Third Way’s finances. More importantly, Steve’s experiences have also helped him forge solid personal and professional relationships which he values above all else.
