John serves as a Policy Advisor for Transportation in Third Way’s Climate and Energy Program, where he focuses on advocating for policies that would decarbonize the aviation sector while enhancing opportunities for economic growth in the United States.

As a native Washingtonian, John has always been driven by a desire to effect change in public policy. After graduating from college, John came back to D.C. to work for a government affairs firm where he helped manage a coalition dedicated to strengthening U.S. competitiveness in the rail manufacturing sector. His experience there showed him how creative thinking, effective communication, and proactive education could drive bipartisan consensus and break perceptions of gridlock in Congress.

John brought these skills with him to the Railway Supply Institute (RSI), where he spent several years diving deeper into transportation policy. At RSI, he collaborated with stakeholders from Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, and non-profits to break down complex transportation and infrastructure issues into easily digestible concepts and talking points. More recently, John also managed the advocacy programs of several other trade associations where he worked to expand federal assistance to affordable housing programs and improve workforce development opportunities.

John holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia and an M.A. in Public Management from Johns Hopkins University. Outside of the office, you can find him exploring local craft breweries, improving his chess game, and hiking new trails.
